As we told you a few weeks ago, the Brussels Region now has a total of 27 certified DPSs across 16 Brussels municipalities, four of which were added to the list last March: DPS CybeRogier, DPS Watermael-Boitsfort, NéVé Andertech and DPS du Phare.  Paradigm, which is responsible for linking the digital inclusion sector with the Government and synchronising digital inclusion actions at the regional level, was present on Tuesday 23 May alongside Bernard Clerfayt, Minister of the Brussels-Capital Region Government whose responsibilities include the Digital Transition, for the signing by the DPS CybeRogier (Schaerbeek Public Centre for Social Welfare) of the Charter of Digital Public Spaces recognised by the Brussels-Capital Region.

In 2019, the Brussels-Capital Region created a 'DPS recognised by the Brussels-Capital Region' label. This label is a guarantee of quality and recognition for DPSs that meet certain criteria: accessible to the public, number of opening hours, number of training hours, presence of a qualified trainer, etc.

The new Digital Public Space (DPS) of the Schaerbeek PCSW (CybeRogier), located at 22 Avenue Rogier, obtained this certification last March because it is equipped with computer equipment connected to the Internet for free consultation and made available to the public. Facilitators support people throughout their visit, offering help and advice.

Introductions to and training in IT are also provided in a specific space to allow greater mastery of the equipment and current technologies and the acquisition of greater autonomy in the process of accessing public services, employment, studies and training, administrative steps, banking platforms, etc.

Young people, students, senior citizens, the unemployed, homeless people, and parents discovering an online connection with their child's school, etc. are all welcome at CybeRogier.

Computers and internet access are available during sessions open to the public. If someone has a more specific problem, they can also make an appointment for assistance. Lastly, the DPS also offers a programme of introductory and advanced computer skills (advanced web research, software installation, etc.).

The charter was signed in the presence of the DPS teams, Paradigm and Bernard Clerfayt, Minister of the Brussels-Capital Region Government in charge of Employment, Vocational Training, Digital Transition, Local Authorities and Animal Welfare.
